Business Case for Environmental Upgrade Agreements

ClimateWorks Australia, with the Sustainable Melbourne Fund, state government departments and local governments (NSW, Victoria and South Australia), and peak industry bodies (PCA, GBCA, FMA, AIA) is delivering the Business Case for Environmental Upgrade Agreements (BC4EUA) project funded through the Energy Efficiency Information Grant from the Australian Government Depart of Resources, Energy and Tourism.

The project will:

• develop nine case studies to illustrate how an EUA can apply in a range of different commercial, retail and light industrial buildings across South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales
• launch a website to clearly illustrate the benefits of EUAs and provide a simple tool to help users understand how an EUA might apply to them
• run workshops, webinars and training sessions with partner organisations from September

The project aims to:

• Accelerate the adoption of energy efficiency retrofits in the Australian commercial, retail  and industrial property market through the use of a proven market-driven mechanism (EUAs), and
• Raise awareness of SME building owners and tenants to the business case for adopting EUAs as a means of accessing finance for energy efficiency improvements to existing commercial, industrial and retail building
