On Tuesday, the Victorian Government proclaimed Local Government Legislation Amendment (Environmental Upgrade Agreements) Act 2015 after the Governor of Victoria provided Royal Assent.
This means that all Local Governments in Victoria are able to voluntarily offer their constituents Environmental Upgrade Agreements (EUAs) for commercial and industrial renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
This is a key milestone in the drive towards sustainable cities across Australia. Sustainable Melbourne Fund welcomes this new Act of Parliament and looks forward to building upon the leadership of the City of Melbourne and the State of Victoria. SMF can now assist other councils across Victoria to unlock investment into their communities and deliver the benefits of renewable energy and energy efficient projects.
